Prince Harry paid a visit to Three Sisters Racing Circuit in Wigan last week to see for himself how a schools motorsport initiative called The Blair Project, supported by Engineering Futures, is developing STEM skills by bringing together product design, 3D printing and go-karting.

Skills Company apprentice George Eastwood has scored a double award triumph. After winning the Building Engineering Services Association’s (BESA) North West Apprentice of the Year award in February, George has now won the Association’s National Apprentice of the Year award.

The Apprenticeship Levy comes into force in April 2017. It’s being introduced as part of the Government’s commitment to create three million apprenticeships by 2020, and is expected to raise £3bn annually across the country.
